Spots are getting scant on the teams of NBC's "The Voice" so the coaches are getting pickier and pickier (and sassier and sassier) and competition's getting fierce.
But for the contestants, it's still all about singing and dreams.
Michelle Brooks-Thompson, 28, from Massachusetts with "Proud Mary" by CCR
A football-hopeful husband with dashed dreams created a kind of parallel for Michelle, and the last thing she wanted was for both of their dreams to be crushed. But Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green both turned their chairs before the tempo shift even kicked. And when Christina Aguilera turned her chair as well, Michelle's face lit up. But she went with Adam.
Summary thoughts: This woman was off the stage and treating Adam and Cee Lo as the sole audience members for a few seconds there. "She's good, man," Adam mused after. She is. She's gonna be in the finals, I can nearly guarantee it.
Diego Val, 25, from Peru, with "Animal" by Neon Trees
I'm so over this song. I can't even. But then Diego started singing, and it was so quirky and pleasant and fun. And then the Spanish started happening, and Cee Lo spun his chair ... and started dancing.
Summary thoughts: I just like his face.
Suzanna Choffel, 32, from Austin, with Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide"
What a beautiful and sad take on an already beautiful and sad song. Suzanna was quiet and earnest and subdued and simply devastating, and both Adam and Blake Shelton spun their chairs, despite Cee Lo egging Christina on. Suzanna went with Blake.
Summary thoughts: Sounds like Stevie Nicks and looks like last season's Juliet Simms? I say, winner. "That could be the finale of this show," Blake said, and I agree.
In which Blake picks up 16-year-old Michaela Paige and Ryan Jirovec after he sings Paul McCartney's "Amazed."
Dez Duron, 22, from Louisana, with Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile"
Remember this guy? He gave up football at Yale to sing the Backstreet Boys (and I swooned three times) but no one pushed their button. This time he prompted Blake to spin his chair (who let out a whoop of joy upon recognizing Dez), as well as Christina and Cee Lo. Dez went with Christina.
Summary thoughts: Buhhh. This boy's voice, it's ... it's like a warm, sexy embrace. Just, come sing to me, Dez. You already know my name.
Alexis Marceaux, 23, of New Orleans with "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac
It’s nice to see multi-talented librarians on this show. No, OK, she's not really a librarian, but Alexis rocks the look really well. In turns smoky and powerful, Alexis was a little rough on the chorus, but damn if she didn't own the verses. Cee Lo was the only one to turn his chair, and he wondered why no one else had: "You have an impeccable voice."
Summary thoughts: Adam Levine aside, any woman who calls Cee Lo beautiful and totally means it is a woman after my own heart.
