Postcards from Florida
September 17, 2011
"You are so loved!" That's the phrase that caught my eye in the press release that turned up in my email last week. I like the sound of it, because it's not something you see a lot — at least in emails around here.
Apparently, that's the usual vibe among the folks at the "Between Heaven & Earth Mediumship Training." They sent me the email about a spiritualist training class they are hosting at the world-famous spiritualist community of Cassadaga, about 45 minutes from Orlando in southwest Volusia County.
Although I've never had any spiritualist training, I've been to Cassadaga a handful of times and it's always an interesting, relaxing destination. The bookstore is nice and it's tucked in a community along a stretch of rural road that's about as close to country as Florida gets.
Ask at the office, and I'm sure you can find someone available to do a reading. One time, about 20 years ago, a medium told me that I was going to do big things, so I have that to look forward to someday.
If you're interested in the "Between Heaven & Earth" retreat, it's scheduled for Friday-Sept. 26 at the Cassadaga Hotel (355 Cassadaga Road; 386-228-2323).
If you live in South Florida, the group will be leaving by Amtrak train, departing at 9 a.m. Friday from Fort Lauderdale for the trip to DeLand. Fee for the train starts at $44 one-way. If that plan doesn't work for you, it's also fine to drive on your own to Cassadaga. Cost for the weekend spiritualist training session is $299.
