Downtown Denver is pedestrian friendly, and the Light Rail and bus system can help you get around. But any local will tell you that your best bet is to rent a car. Who knows when you might want to zip to the mountains, just a few minutes outside of town? Besides, the airport is about 20 minutes from town, and a cab will cost you a fortune. There is also some free public transportation, such as The Mall Bus, you can ride the free shuttle bus along 16th Street Mall, Denver's outdoor shopping promenade.
