The man who wants to be America's next president, made a stop in Abingdon earlier Friday.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney came to coal country.
Spectators were packed in tight between grazing cows and bulldozers at Carter Machinery in Abingdon.
The Republican faithful seemed energized as Mitt Romney walked a makeshift runway to the podium.
"You are strong, confident and patriotic people and we're going to bring back jobs and bring back America," the former Massachusetts governor told the crowd.
Romney, in gray slacks and a white button down shirt, was still scoring post debate performance points with supporters.
"I was shocked at the opponents’ lack of preparation on Obama's part," a Romney supporter said.
This area is known as "coal country,” with hard hat supporters, including two sisters who say they've had enough of Obama.
"This is the first time that I've been passionate about an election and I'm passionate because I've seen the America I love, be torn down to a country that I don't hardly recognize,” Romney supporter Alice Porterfield said.
Friday's rally was on an industrial tract of land, surrounded by big trucks and strong talk aimed at President Obama.
"I got the chance to ask him ‘why is the middle class buried in this country.’ Jobs have gone down and prices of gasoline have doubled,” Romney said.
Sharpshooters were obvious on the roof. On the ground, volunteers passed out water to a thirsty crowd,
Both campaigns often carry the exact same script from rally to rally and town to town. Romney's repeat lines on Friday, worked.
The Romney campaign gave out nearly 5,000 tickets for this event. Thousands of them were packed on four acres on of Carter Machinery. Campaign aides say they expect Romney to make more stops in Virginia before the election.
