As the hours dwindle down to Election Day, Democrat Tim Kaine made his final pitch to voters Monday.

Candidate Kaine remains in a statistical dead heat for Virginia’s open U.S. Senate seat with Republican candidate George Allen.

Most polls have Kaine up to three points ahead of George Allen, which is about the margin of error.

Kaine began the day in the Tidewater region in Norfolk. Then it was quickly onto Sterling, campaigning with Vice President Joe Biden. Kaine, alongside current Virginia Senator Mark Warner, also made an unscheduled campaign stop with Biden in Roanoke.

Kaine says he's been campaigning now for some 19 months and that he's put about 60,000 miles on his car.

"It's been a long grueling campaign but this campaign has shown me that now more than ever we need people who know how to be partners rather than just hard partisans,” Kaine said during a rally Monday. "We know when we focus on tomorrow’s opportunities for these folks instead of rehashing yesterday’s battles or embracing yesterday’s failed policies, we strengthen our nation."
