Underwood Hopes Idol Girls Shine

The premiere of American Idol proved there will be a lot of talent to look for this season – but judges’ Randy Jackson and Nicki Minaj have already predicted a winner. In an interview with People, the two said they “think it’s a girls’ year”, but former Idol winner Carrie Underwood is not quick to assume anything – even though she would love to see a girl take that title! “I mean you never know why people vote a certain way. I don’t know how I pulled off a win, but my year they said a guy was going to win – and they were wrong! Thank goodness! I am always excited to watch. I should definitely throw in some votes of my own, because I’d love to see another female take it home.” People also chatted with Keith Urban, who made his Idol debut last night, about the overall talent on American Idol. The singer said all four judges had to converse about what they were exactly looking for because they, “can’t send two million people to Hollywood.” American Idol is on FOX.
